Role
Senior Umbilical Engineer
Long term contract (Inside IR35)
Hybrid working – 12 days per month from home
Location: Basingstoke, UK
Responsibilities:
- EPCI Contract Management:
- Prepare and complete large Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contracts for offshore projects, focusing on Umbilical systems.
- Design Assurance:
- Ensure that the design of Umbilical systems meets project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
- Technical Documentation:
- Prepare technical documentation throughout various project phases, including Conceptual Study, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Tender, and Contract package preparation.
- Supplier Management:
- Follow up on Supplier Call for Tender & Selection, including qualifications, clarifications, recommendations, etc.
- Engineering Oversight:
- Review and approve FEED, Tender, and Detailed Engineering performed by Contractors.
- Company Representation:
- Act as the Company Representative for Umbilical system fabrication and testing activities.
- Act as Company Representative during offshore Umbilical installation onboard installation vessels.
- Technical Expertise:
- Demonstrate experience in the technical design of Umbilicals, covering preliminary engineering through detailed design.
- Knowledge of main topsides, subsea, and installation interfaces.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Conduct Design and Safety Reviews, HAZOP, HAZID's, and Risk Assessments.
- Contractor and Vendor Supervision:
- Supervise Contractors and Vendors equipment and deliverables.
- Testing and Commissioning:
- Support projects in onshore and offshore testing, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Integration Testing (SIT), and pre-commissioning/installation/commissioning activities.
- Standards and Codes:
- Familiarity with relevant international codes and subsea standards for Umbilicals, particularly API 17E.
- Specialized Experience:
- Experience in Umbilical and/or Fiber optical cable shore approach.
- Experience in Umbilical and/or Fiber optical cable troubleshooting and repair.
Qualifications:
- Minimum BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable experience with Umbilicals from preliminary engineering through detailed design.
- Proficient usage of MS Office Software.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of Dynamic Umbilical analysis software (e.g., Orcaflex).
This Senior Umbilical Engineer role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and experience in both onshore and offshore activities related to Umbilical systems. The candidate should also possess knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes, along with the ability to oversee the entire project lifecycle.
